“Mustard”
The Mustard Snowboard Series is a bold, culture-driven design project that merges music, texture, and extreme sport. Inspired by Kendrick Lamar’s lyric in the song “TV Off,” where he emphatically calls out “Mustard,” the concept transforms a fleeting musical moment into a striking visual identity. That single word is raw, energetic, and unforgettable. It became the foundation for the board’s aesthetic. To bring authenticity to the design, I used real mustard as a physical medium, creating organic splatters, smears, and brushstrokes directly onto a surface before digitizing the texture. The unpredictability of the condiment added grit and movement that traditional paint could not replicate. Once scanned and refined in Photoshop, the texture was shaped into bold typography across the snowboard deck, contrasted against a matte black background for maximum visual impact. I then composited the design onto action photographs of snowboarder’s mid-air, enhancing lighting, perspective, and shadows in Photoshop to create realistic, high-energy mockups. The result is a dynamic fusion of street culture and snow culture, where hip-hop expression meets adrenaline sport. The Mustard Snowboard Series celebrates spontaneity, texture, and cultural influence, turning a lyrical moment into a visually powerful ride.
